Jakob’s surgery went very well. He requested green casts before the surgery and then afterward changed his mind about the color – just a few hours too late! The night we spent in the hospital was a rough one. He loves to sleep on his stomach, but couldn’t because he had to keep his legs elevated. So, I tried every imaginable position for him, slept in bed with him for a little while, attempted to sleep in the hospital chair/bed beside him. He slept about 20 minutes of every hour through the night and refused oral pain medication after they had removed the IV. We walked the halls, I sang to him and neither one of us slept much. Anyway, as we were leaving the hospital exhausted the next morning he said, “Mom, wasn’t that a great time at the hospital?” I just had to laugh at this child with the positive spirit that has been such a gift to us. The rest of this week has gone very well. Surprisingly, he loves to lay on the floor and stretch his legs with the heavy casts up in the air and touch his nose to them. We were thrilled that he feels like moving so much right after surgery. His casts come up to his mid-thighs to ensure that he will not bear any weight on his legs for the next four weeks. He was able to play baseball with his daddy and help with some outside chores from his wheelchair this morning. So, once again, God has been faithful to our family and we are grateful. Thanks for all of your prayers and support. Here are some recent photos of our family. Please keep in touch.

Dear Willem and Janelle,
Been checking up the site over the past few months and was about to ask if something seriously wrong had happened. We had linked your site to our blog since we wanted more people to be in prayer for you as a family.
So great to see the photos of your smiling faces. That head is pretty bald Willem – I thought I was bad!
God is good and He takes us through the rough and the smooth.
We will be praying for a good post-op for Jakob.
We continue to experience His grace here in India. We continue to be pushed beyond our capacities – and pray that the Lord is able to use the little we do for Him to bear much fruit. I have been inspired by you to take up blogging – and have been beavering away with thoughts and pics over the last 3 months (www.andi-sheba.blogspot.com)
Blessings to you all!
Love in Him,
Andi and Sheba, Asha and Enoch

Hello Janelle,
Haven’t written in awhile but have thought of you often. I decided to check your website this a.m. to see if there was any new news from you. Of course, I am a month late checking but glad I did. Jakob looks and sounds like a real trooper. He is soooo cute as are your other boys in the pictures.
Wow! 16 years! Steve and I are approaching our 16th in December this year. Did I send you a picture of our girls with our annual letter? I kind of think that I didn’t because I don’t have your home address in my contact list. If you don’t mind, could you resend your address to me and I will be sure to add it this time.
You look awesome by the way. Happy, healthy, and still in love after 16 years!! Take care and I hope that I can be more faithful about checking your site and communicating.
Sincerely,
Lisa Hedges
